"An Ancient Solution to Modern Problems"

Forget Everything You Know About Yoga: Chaker Saaf Has Broken the Mold

Chicago – Robert R. returns to his office after a meeting with his most important client. Things did not go well. He presented his company's new product to his customer as well as he ever had. He followed a well-prepared presentation plan, explained all the details. His customer responded politely, but refused to order.

This is the third time this month that Robert has lost a client. He fears for his job.

London – Diane L.. sits quietly in a club in London's fashionable Soho district. The crowd is noisy and lively, but she does not feel like part of it. People seem incredibly smart, slim, and confident. The extra weight she is carrying makes her feel not quite good enough. Not quite fashionable enough. She finishes her drink and slips unnoticed out the door.

Ames. Iowa – Samantha M. knows her marriage is failing. The certainty of it gnaws at her every waking moment. She feels vaguely guilty and cannot understand why. She has done nothing wrong. Living on the edge of desperation, she does not know whether to confront her husband about her misgivings, or remain quiet.

“Why do I feel this way?” she asks herself.

Author Chaker Saaf addresses common problems people face every day with his innovative new book, Happy Mind, Beautiful Body.

Happy Mind, Beautiful Body!

Interview With Chaker Saaf, Author of Happy Mind, Beautiful Body

Chaker Saaf strides into his living room with a smile on his face and offers his hand. His handshake is firm and dry. He exudes confidence and looks considerably younger than his 54 years. His home is spacious without being imposing. It is easy to feel comfortable.. He seats himself on the sofa.

Question: Why did you write Happy Mind, Beautiful Body? Aren't there enough yoga books on the market ?

Saaf: I certainly hope there's room for another.. Happy Mind, Beautiful Body comes from my own journey to happiness and health. There was a time, it seems like a long time ago now, that I was out of control. I was letting situations control me instead of controlling situations, I wrote the book to share the knowledge of how I gained control of my life with others.

Question: So how did you do it?

Saaf: Saaf smiles. Read the book. Seriously, I used the principles of yoga to turn my life around.

Question: But aren't there at least a hundred yoga books that will do the same thing?

Saaf: It's really a question of accessibility. Yoga isn't about twisting yourself into a pretzel. The yoga taught to Westerners is usually a sanitized version that neglects important aspects of the mind-body relationship. That's the 800 pound gorilla in the room that nobody talks about.

Question: So, it's like mind over matter? Isn't that snake oil?

Saaf: No, there's nothing magical or miraculous about it, unless you want to consider human potential to be a miraculous thing – and maybe it is. It's really about liking yourself enough to take care of yourself.

Question: I've heard that you get a hot body if you follow the principles in your book. Is that true?

Saaf: Laughs. Once you've gained control of your life, you will achieve your ideal body weight and have real confidence in yourself. I suppose people will find that hot, yes. Your sex drive will increase, too. So watch out.

Question: You have a lot of breathing exercises in your book. What's up with that? Can you breathe your way thin and fit?

Saaf: Earlier, I mentioned the mind-body connection. I guess the simplest way to put it is that yoga postures make you strong on the outside, and yoga breathing exercises make you strong on the inside. The old saying about beauty coming from within is true. People talk about the glow of good health for a reason. Breathing exercises turn on the light within you. You have to experience it to understand.

Question: Is yoga a fad?

Saaf: Yoga is a way of life. That doesn't mean that you run around acting like some kind of mysterious swami or give up your religion. It's something you incorporate into your life to improve it. Once you've learned the basics, the practice becomes its own reward. It makes you feel good, so you do it.

Question: Will the exercises in your book make you physically fit?

Saaf: Physical fitness is important, isn't it? What you will find is that the exercises not only make you physically fit, but you can relax as you do them. You never have to push yourself to get into a position. It is a gradual process that produces quick results.

Question: Why did you publish Happy Mind, Beautiful Body as an ebook, instead of going the traditional route?

Saaf: The world is changing. People want access to information now with no wait. Electronic publishing has some serious advantages, too. You can reference things and have them pop up right on your screen. It's portable and easily accessible on a variety of devices. As an author, you get instant feedback from your readers, and that's invaluable. If I make changes to the book, I can share the updated version instantly with my readers. There's a lot to like about it.

Question: What about meditation? Isn't that just plain weird?

Saaf: Not if you understand what it is. It's just getting the garbage out of your head and finding out who you really are and what you can be. It's wonderfully relaxing, too.

Question: What's different about your book?

Saaf: It reveals techniques that have been hidden from Western practitioners. I believe it's time they saw the light of day. It's yoga for busy people who want tangible benefits from the time they invest. People want results quickly. The techniques are very old, but adapted for the hectic modern life most of us live.

Question: How did you find them?

Saaf: I learned them from a yoga master. Until now, there has been no other way.

Question: Your book promises increased energy. How can you deliver on that?

Saaf: That's a valid question. If you do the right things, good things happen. Increased energy is a natural outgrowth of doing the exercises in my book. In a sense, if you fine-tune a machine, the machine will function better. The exercises release energy that is blocked up within you. It's much better to practice them and feel the energy than to talk about it. It's the best way to learn.

Question: $47 seems a little steep for an ebook. How do you justify the price?

Saaf: $47 would be a lot for a simple 30 page ebook, but Happy Mind, Beautiful Body is much more than that. It's 122 pages and comprises a complete yoga practice, It's constantly updated at no additional charge, but, again, there's much more to it.

You need to keep in mind that you get two audio books from my colleague Jeanie Marshall, the Confidence of Feeling Good and Finding the Balance in Your Breath. Two excellent books, Diet for Health and Spiritual Consciousness are included, as well. So, it's really quite a bargain.

Question: Your book comes with a guarantee. I've never heard of a book with a guarantee. Why do you do that?

Saaf: My reputation is worth much more than $47. I include the guarantee because I want people to be 100% confident when they buy. So far, no one has asked for any money back. The feedback I get from readers is really encouraging.

Question: Can you explain your book in a nutshell?

Saaf: Sure. It's a simple system that will change your life for the better even if you only give it ten minutes a day.

How's that?

Question: It's brief and to the point. Thank you, Mr. Saaf.

Saaf: It was my pleasure. I enjoyed talking to you.
